ERIC Webber made his second eight-ball break of the season for Gladstone C in the Northwich & District Pool League, but his team suffered a shock home first defeat to Castle A.

Owley Wood A got a big win in Division 2, as Slow narrowly lead the way in Division 3.

Gladstone C would have fancied their chances of going umpteen matches unbeaten after defeating title rivals Castle D last week.

This however came to an end with a memorable win for Castle A. In a tight match it came down to captain Dave Cain to snatch the points for Castle and a healthy four wins out of five start for his side.

Castle D looked on course for a heavy win at home taking the first three frames of their match. Rudheath however showed fight to win three of the remaining four and finish with a respectable final scoreline of 4-3.

They still though seek their first win. Greenbank A were the division’s top scorers with a 6-1 win over Barn Owl B to maintain their good start. Scott Rutter securing the bonus points in this match.

In the Castle derby between the C and B teams it looked to be going the way of the B team as they led 3-2.

However Steve Mcleod levelled it up and C team captain Stu Eyres took the final frame to give rise to a crescendo of noise from his teammates.

This following an excellent black potted off two cushions when snookered to win the match.

Greenbank C’s storming start in Division 2 came to a sudden end as Owley Wood A took 6 of the 7 frames to put themselves top of the league. This notably came after the Weaverham side had lost the opener. Green Dragon A got back on track with a 5-2 success at the Lion A. They took the first 4 for the match with Josh Shackleston taking the bonus points. The Lion B had a better night winning 5-2 at Broken Cross. They took the match in frame 6 by Ste Finney’s win.

Iron Bridge got their 2nd win of the season with a heavy 6-1 victory at Witton Chimes A. They also had the match secured after 4 frames by Graham Stubbs. Gladstone D took a 4-3 win at Greenbank B after establishing a 4-1 lead. Nath Adshead with the key 5th frame.

Division 3

Slow & Easy and Greenbank D have quickly opened up a significant gap of 8 points to their nearest challengers. Slow won 5-2 at home to Salt Barge this week. They were pulled back to 3-2 before Levi Pang took the match. Greenbank D lost the opening frame at Quayside but then won the next 6 with Dana McCormack the match securing one.

Winnington Rec are in 3rd but they suffered a 5-2 home defeat to Wharton Cons for their 2nd win of the season. Glynn Cookson more used to the Rec’s bowling greens taking the bonus points in frame 5. Green Dragon B were also 5-2 winners over Witton Chimes B. They ran away with this one early by taking the first 5 frames.

In the final match of the division Moulton Legion were victorious 4-3 over Wheatsheaf. From 2-2 captain Jonathan Thompson and Geoff Lloyd got them to the winning post.
