GLADSTONE D won the battle of the top two in Division One of the Northwich & District Pool League during week four of competition.
They secured victory over leaders Castle D in five frames to leapfrog their hosts with a 5-2 win.
Castle A suffered their first defeat, with Roland Tomlinson proving the key to Greenbank A’s 4-3 win.
Barn Owl B grabbed their first win by beating Gladstone B 4-3, with Steve Gerrard and Leslie Godfrey taking frames five and six for the match.
Rudheath remain winless as they lost 5-2 at home to Castle B, with Graeme Dodd securing the bonus points for the visitors.
In Division Two, Greenbank C recovered from 2-0 down and took four frames on the spin to beat Green Dragon A and take a three-point lead at the top following nearest challengers Owley Wood A’s first loss – a 4-3 reverse against Broken Cross.
Iron Bridge were thrashed 6-1 by Greenbank B to leave them in the bottom two alongside Witton Chimes A, who lost 4-3 at The Lion B.
The Lion A fought back from 2-0 and 3-2 down at Gladstone D to record a 4-3 win, with Craig Rose pinching the final frame decider.
The week’s only eight-ball break came from Greenbank D’s Matty Fallows in Division Three, but it was the only frame his side registered as they were hammered 6-1 by Slow & Easy A.
Green Dragon B racked up a first win as they beat previously unbeaten Winnington Rec 5-2 while Salt Barge beat Moulton Legion 4-3 at home.
Quayside came on out top at Wharton Cons with a 4-3 win while Witton Chimes B beat Wheatsheaf 5-2.
