GEORGE Abbotts Butchers continue to lead Division One of the Mid-Cheshire Table Tennis League.

They travelled to Lostock Lemmings and returned with a thumping 10-0 success as the league reached week eight to keep up their 100 per cent record.

Sparks kept put the pressure with an 8-2 win at Winsford while a full-strength Tigers side – aided by the excellent Winston Jacobs – overcame Victoria Club 7-3.

Terry Turner was in imperious form as Wreckers beat Raptors 7-3, a match that saw no fewer than five matches going to a deciding fifth set.

Manweb and Bears – the only two sides yet to win a game – battled to a 5-5 draw, with Paul Curley picking up a maximum for Bears.

George Abbotts lead Division One by 10 points, while Bears sit bottom.

In Division Two, the evergreen Tom Beevers inspired joint-leaders Cobras to an 8-2 win over Romans while Kinetics beat Rangers 6-4 in a tight contest.

Vikings routed Victoria Club’s second string 9-1 while Snakes overcame Lostock Smashers 7-3 and Sticklebacks beat Wolves 8-2.

Cobras and Lab Rats, who did not play this week, are tied on 57 points at the top.
