RHYS Morrillo is now a 2019 national clout archery champion in a form of the sport in which he is relatively inexperienced.
The 14-year-old Hartford High School student contested the Archery GB National Clout Archery Championships in Bradford at the weekend when he won the junior boy recurve category.
His achievement comes on only the third occasion he has competed in clout archery.
In this discipline of the sport, he had to shoot at a flag in the ground 120 yards away and land his arrows in the scoring circle.
Rhys also shot for Cheshire in target archery earlier this month in the Five Northern Counties Tournament.
He finished second in under 16s boys recurve in a very competitive category.
Rhys is a member of Goldcrest Archers in Hyde and is coached by Peter Gregory.
He is also an associate member at Winnington Park Bowmen where he trains locally.
