A NEW chapter starte for Barnton FC last night.

They played their first fixture under new management with a new-look side away to Premier Division high flyers Rylands FC in the North West Counties Football League Macron Challenge Cup first round.

The First Division South side now have Gary Moore and Liam Page in charge as joint managers following on from the departure of James McShane by mutual consent.

Since their appointment, there has been a glut of signings.

Striker Jordan Cobley has returned to Barnton, Elliott Jones has been recruited as has striker Louis Myers from FC United of Manchester, having also previously played for Blackburn Rovers, Rochdale, Fleetwood, Chorley and Radcliffe.

Young defender Alex Jones has been promoted from the under 21s to the first-team squad, while Sam Houghton has been reinstated to the role of captain.

McShane took over the club at the start of the 2018/19 season and led the side to 12th position in the First Division South last season.

This campaign The Villagers were 15th in the league and had just been knocked out of the PlayerMatch.Com Trophy when his exit was confirmed.

Barnton chairman Steve Lloyd said: "As a club we would like to thank James for his hard work, efforts and commitment to the football club and we would like to wish him all the best for the future."

The Villagers were defeated 5-0 by the higher-division side in Warrington.
