CUDDINGTON FC have been awarded a grant from The FA’s Stay in the Game scheme to help aid the club’s retention of its adult male players, giving them the financial support to cover the costs incurred by grassroots clubs.

The Stay in the Game scheme is funded by The FA and delivered by the Football Foundation, with grants of £750 awarded to existing clubs in order to boost financial sustainability and allow clubs to continue offering playing opportunities in organised football.

The grants can be used towards matchday and training facility hire and league affiliation costs as well as covering match day subs for individuals that aren’t able to afford their regular match fees.

Simon Smith, Cuddington FC secretary, said: “This money will mean we can keep funding our adult male teams and provide a platform to keep playing the game.”

Clean sweep at tennis club

CUDDINGTON and Sandiway Tennis Club’s teams have had an outstanding season with a clean sweep of the trophies in the South and Mid Cheshire League.

All four men’s teams faced stiff competition to win their divisions.

The A team earned promotion to Division One, B team to Division Two, C team to Division Three and the D team to Division Four.

Success has been achieved too for three of the women’s teams which came top of their divisions without losing a match, with the A team promoted to Division One, B team to Division Two and the C team to Division Three.

The mixed C team came top of Division Two and so will be promoted to Division One next season.

The women’s B team and men’s C team also won their handicap tournaments.

The trophies were presented at the South & Mid Cheshire League presentation day held at Cuddington and Sandiway Club on Sunday, and will be celebrated with members at the club’s own celebration evening later in the month.
