KNUTSFORD were denied a victory last weekend when Scott Twite headed a leveller for promoted Lostock Gralam in added time.

It was a double blow for Reds, who had edged in front for a second time moments earlier when Joel Wilbraham connected with Michael Cartner's pass on a volley from outside of the penalty area.

Instead they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

The visitors, beaten at Congleton Vale in their opening Cheshire League fixture in midweek, took the lead on 17 minutes.

Bradley Williams, attempting to reach George Riley's pass, was felled by goalkeeper Jack Burton and Tom Rutter dispatched the resulting spot-kick into the corner.

Charlie Hatton was thwarted by custodian Steve Dryden, standing in for Callum Spencer, at the other end and Cartner was positioned perfectly to smuggle Jack Woolley's looping header off the line before the break.

In the second-half Milan Thompson fired off-target before Rutter's chipped effort, from substitute Lee Mannion's pass, dipped a fraction too late.

Replacement Brad West combined with Thompson on the right and the latter's cutback reached Rutter who prompted Burton to save smartly.

Knutsford were pegged back on 81 minutes when James Dean went to ground after contact with Rob Spilsbury, persuading referee David Cooper to award a penalty.

The attacker climbed to his feet and directed his effort out of Drench's reach for 1-1.

Riley's shot lacked power when Rutter picked him out before Wilbraham's moment of magic as the clock ran down appeared to have secured maximum points for Reds.

However they failed to defend Dean's lofted ball, allowing it to bounce before Twite steered into the net from close-range.
