WITTON Albion continued their preparations for the new campaign with a 4-0 friendly win at Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday.

Two goals just before half time set the tone for a dominant victory, with youngster Tom Edwards firing home a loose ball before Rob Hopley had an effort deflected into the net for the second goal.

With 20 minutes remaining, Edwards nodded a deep cross back across goal for Billy Smart to finish before Liam Goulding put the icing on the cake in the closing stages.

After weaving past several defenders, the former Warrington man was felled by the Motors goalkeeper but picked himself up to convert the resulting penalty.

1874 Northwich eventually succumbed to a 4-1 defeat to National League North outfit Chester, but not before taking an early lead as Sam Hare kept his cool to find the bottom corner.

The visitors equalised from the penalty spot before three goals in the final 15 minutes gave the scoreline a more comfortable look.

Meanwhile, two goals in three minutes just after the hour mark consigned Northwich Victoria to a 2-0 defeat at Garstang as Steve Wilkes’ side were beaten in the Adam Swanwick Trophy.
