MIDDLEWICH could not complete a double over Bredbury St Mark’s last weekend but a draw extends an unbeaten run in the Cheshire League’s second division.
The visitors to Haddon Field put 195-5 on the board after winning the toss thanks to half-centuries from opener Darren Carr (76) and Matthew Asher (72no).
Gavin Twigg, with 4-53, was the pick of Middlewich’s bowlers.
They reached 147-8 during a reply that saw wickets fall at regular intervals.
A partnership worth 42 runs between Ryan Twigg (52) and Matt Ryan (20no) after they came together at 100-7 thwarted Bredbury when they appeared most threatening.
Middlewich seconds slumped to a 10-wicket defeat at Macclesfield’s thirds in Division B East after they were skittled for 44.
Their hosts needed less than seven overs to beat that total and collect maximum points.
They improved during a T20 Cup quarter-finals encounter with Kingsley on Tuesday when Joel Faun (67no) helped them to 153-6.
However their hosts passed that total with just five balls to spare despite the best efforts of James Bennion (4-21).
