OULTON Park could not follow a first Premier Division success of the season seven days earlier with another when they hosted leaders Chester Boughton Hall.

They did have moments in the ascendancy, responding to the hosts reaching 139-1 by bowling them out for 220.

Rick Moore, a former captain at the Little Budworth club, put on 79 for the first wicket with Alex Money (66) who in turn added 60 more with Jamie Crawley.

However brilliant spells from Tom Hyslop (5-60) and Andrew Dufty (5-51) saw them account for all 10 wickets.

The latter, who has stepped up to the county league’s top-flight from third-tier Northwich this season, has 26 wickets to his name in all competitions – second only to Widnes’ Majid Majeed (27).

Martyn East (21) scored five fours before he was snaffled at backward point by Harry Killoran, off Lloyd Aspin’s bowling, prompting Cheshire captain Danny Leech (27) to anchor the visitors’ reply.

However his departure with the score on 74 prompted Oulton Park to fade quickly to 111 all out.

Hyslop (34 off 25 balls) hit five sixes in a spectacular cameo, but Chester celebrated a 109-run success that moved them 21 points clear at halfway.

Davenham should be grateful to their tail-end batsmen for turning around an innings that was in trouble at 85-8 in a Division One encounter with Urmston.

Sam Hatcher (67 off 66 balls) added 54 runs with Danny Hancock (48 off 39 balls) before the latter inched the visitors to 193 all out with support from Dean Jackson (16no).

Aaron Moore, with 4-31, was the pick of the home team’s bowlers.

However the collective force of Davenham’s attack was too much for Urmston to resist as they folded for 102 in reply.

Adam Garrod (3-12) and Hancock (3-14) led the way with back-up from captain Ben Gough (2-43) and Ryan Blackie (2-21).

They rise to fifth in the table, 10 points adrift of a promotion place.

Northwich lost by 74 runs at Congleton in Division Two and remain without a victory in 2019.

The hosts put 207-8 on the board after winning the toss, Ben Heades (85) and Jack Higginbotham (50) both contributing a half-century.

Jordan McDonough (4-64) and Justine Joseph (3-38) were the most successful of the visiting bowlers.

The men from Moss Farm made it to 133 before succumbing to a 10th defeat in 11 games, Glinoj Cherian (31) and Joby Mathew (30) posting the highest individual scores.

John Copeland (4-54) accounted for both.
