DAVID Purcell rescued an Oakmere innings in danger of collapse when they made it back-to-back wins by beating Lymm last weekend.

He raced to 63 off 65 balls, striking nine fours, after arriving at the crease with the score at 60-6.

A partnership with Joe Roddis (15) worth 63 runs for the ninth wicket proved crucial in taking the home team to 170 all out.

They knocked over Lymm for 94 in reply, South African Matthew De Villiers (5-19) taking the plaudits following his first five-fer since arriving in England..

Roddis (2-32) and Matthew Howard (3-26) played a part too.

 

 

Kingsley were too good for Stockport Trinity and celebrated a 70-run success at the Croft.

They made it to 181 after being put in with skipper Ben Stoddart (45) laying foundation built on by youngsters Ali Begg (38) and Ben Ainsworth (44).

Between them the trio plundered 13 fours and four maximums.

Adrian Burden was the Crofters’ star turn after tea; he took 6-17 off 10 overs, six of them maidens, as the away side crumbled to 111 all out.

Austin Smith (3-23) offered support.

 

 

Barnton slipped to a seven-wicket defeat against Port Sunlight who had failed to win a league fixture previously this season.

Brayden Tracey (54) and Paul Coot (56) both contributed a half-century as their side racked up 242-7 after winning the toss.

However their bowlers all suffered after tea as Tyler Smith (63), Ben Nuttall (87no) and Simon Melberzs (72 off 33 balls) steered the visitors to victory in 38 overs.

Weaverham could not prevent promotion-chasing Ashton on Mersey from continuing a pursuit of leaders Haslington, slipping to a five-wicket defeat.

The Russets were dismissed for 145, and the highlight was a partnership for the fourth wicket worth 49 runs between Ryan Simm (31) and skipper Kevin Douglas (23).

Edward Faulkner took 5-46 for the visitors.

Ashton wobbled at 21-3 after Douglas (2-40) and returning James Ollier (1-16) broke through but Mark Weighill (40no) and Peter Hatzoglou (39) rallied to add 74 runs during their time together.

The visitors were comfortable victors from there, reaching their target in the 29th over.

Winnington Park were grateful to Hasan Irfan after he prevented Irby from pinching a draw from their Division Two encounter.

The youngster claimed the final three wickets, finishing with figures of 5-24, to knock over the home team for 108.

He had claimed the wicket of danger man Liam Crilly with the new ball before Jonny Wales (2-11) removed two more of the top-order batsmen.

An 86-run victory was the reward after Park had run up 194-9 earlier in the afternoon.

Martin Evans (19) and Wales (88) put on 50 runs for the third wicket after both openers were dismissed cheaply but the fielders were not under pressure again until Arran Deakin (21no) put on 38 more with the latter.

 

 

Hartford beat Warrington’s fourths by 66 runs in a Division C fixture at Grange Park, where they totalled 149 all out.

Martin Pickup (73no) was the star of an innings that featured only one other score in double figures from opener Geoff Sharp (16).

A collective effort in the field restricted the visitors to 83-7 off their 40 overs with captain Mathew Stokes (3-20) the most productive of the home team’s bowlers.

Praveen Pattisapu (2-9) and Rob Whittle (2-22) claimed the other wickets to fall.
