WINNINGTON Park have an opportunity to avenge a defeat in last season’s Cheshire RFU Bowl final when they meet the same opponents in the next edition.

Matt Farr’s men were paired with Crewe & Nantwich, their conquerors in the sunshine at New Brighton in April, in a draw for the quarter-finals published earlier this week.

It means a rematch too between brothers with the Winnington coach’s younger brother, John, his counterpart at Crewe.

Park will act as hosts in September.

Meanwhile Northwich must wait to discover who will block their path initially when they begin the defence of a Cheshire RFU Vase crown they claimed back last term.

Martin Poste’s men, architects of a brilliant last-gasp victory against Birkenhead Park in the showpiece at Easter, will travel to either Sandbach or Macclesfield in September.

Those two must meet first in a Cheshire RFU Cup encounter, with the loser dropping into the Vase.

Blacks knocked the former out of last term’s edition with a stunning 23-20 success at the semi-finals stage.
