MARK Wakefield admits he is ahead of where he expected to be at this stage of the season but warned he won't be easing up.
The Northwich driver celebrated a first victory of the campaign in the Volkswagen Racing Cup at Silverstone last time out, collecting points that propelled him to third in the standings.
"It wasn't a place we expected to win," said the 21-year-old.
"We always felt that the second-half of the season included visits to circuits more suited to my car's strengths.
"Our view hasn't changed on that, and it's great to be looking ahead and feeling optimistic."

A trio to Donington Park for the series' fourth round follows this weekend.
It is a circuit where Wakefield has enjoyed success previously too.
However he insisted to the Guardian that a pursuit of points, rather than wins, will remain his objective going into two more races on Sunday.
Wakefield said: "I've learned from experience that consistency is the key to winning a championship.
"Of course wins or podium finishes can help with that, but I want to reach the finish every time and put points on the board.
"That's what we'll be aiming to do again at Donington."
