JACK Garner’s maiden half-century for Davenham’s seconds was a highlight of their crushing 128-run victory against visiting Ashton on Mersey.
The teenager was unbeaten on 78, finding the boundary 11 times, when the home team’s innings closed on 221 after enjoying support from Mark Greaves (32) and Andrew Simmons (24).
His brother Harry impressed in the field, taking 2-9 and also holding on to two catches, as the hosts knocked over their opponents for 93.
Jimmy O’Sullivan (4-23) and Simmons (4-18) enjoyed themselves too, leaving Davenham top of the table.
Oulton Park’s seconds sit third in the Premier Division after a 16-run win at Upton.
Defending 137, they knocked over their hosts after taking inspiration from a fine bowling display by Andy Hards (4-25 off 15 overs) before youngster Elliott Ashwell (2-3) finished the job.
Openers Jonny Litler (18) and captain Ben Tomlinson (29) had put on 46 for the first wicket earlier in the afternoon, while Ashwell added 25, but Graeme Keenan (4-41) and Callum McCormick (4-24) made sure wickets fell at regular intervals.
