THE Grange School claimed two medals at the National Schools’ Regatta.

Mia Brown stroked an under 15s girls’ coxed four that won silver in their boat class at Dorney Lake following a thrilling battle with rivals from Kingston Rowing Club in the A final.

Jemima Hassall, Saskia Dry, Olivia Harding and cox Ruby Moritz-Cammack joined her in a crew that was fastest overall during a time-trial in the morning before then prevailing in the second semi-final.

Meanwhile under 15s boys’ coxed quad from the Grange was third in their A final with Ben Scawn, Omar Siddiqi, Matt Johnston, Paul Kenyon and cox Antoine Moore on board.

"It is an achievement to be incredibly proud of for some of our young rowers to win a medal at a national championship," said Simon Williams, the Hartford school's director of sport.

"The Grange were ranked highest in the medals table of schools from the North West and to see the hard work our rowers put into training earn a reward is what sport is all about."

The Hartford school sent 16 crews to take part in a three-day event on a course used for the Olympic Games in 2012.

On Sunday, a Championship boys' pair consisting of Bradley Strickland-Baker and Sam Thorington finished fourth in the B final and in 10th position overall.
