DAVENHAM will try to win four successive matches in the Cheshire County League for the first time since 2015 when they visit Bramhall next weekend.

They continued an encouraging start to the current campaign with an 85-run success against Didsbury, who they bowled out for 153.

Dean Jackson (3-52) and captain Ben Gough (3-20) accounted for the away side’s top-order before Adam Garrod (1-36) and Danny Hancock (2-14) weighed in later.

Frederick Kamstra (90no) ran out of partners as the visitors to Butcher’s Stile fell well short in an attempt to better their hosts’ total.

They scored 238 after winning the toss, with Adam Garrod (70) sharing in a partnership worth 71 runs with Sam Hunt (61) before adding another 65 together with Sam Hatcher (38).

Sam Robbins (22) and Mike Sambell (24) contributed too.

Oulton Park’s batsmen posted their highest total of the campaign to date when Neston visited for a Premier Division fixture but it was not enough to avoid a seven-wicket defeat.

Ben Gibbon (51), supported by Matthew Jamieson (23) and Ben Kettle (25) boosted the home team’s tally to 218 all out after first-wicket pair Nick Ward (30) and Danny Leech (32) put 66 runs on the board earlier in the innings.

Michael Eckard (5-45) was the pick of a bowling attack that featured a cameo from former Little Budworth regular Craig Douglas.

Neston’s successful reply was built on partnerships, including one worth 95 runs for the second wicket between Dom Smith (67) and Dane Williams (94).

They closed on 224-3 with Andrew Dufty (1-61), Martyn East (1-17) and Leech (1-34) sharing the wickets to fall.

Northwich lost heavily, by a 143-run margin, at Chrisleton in Division Two.

There were individual highlights for Glinoj Cherian, who took 5-50, and James Gittings (3-69) as the home team posted 230-9.

However the men from Moss Farm continue to struggle at the crease and succumbed for 87 in reply.

Glinoj contributed 20, but only two others reached double-figures as Joshua Joseph (5-24) and Arslan Darr (4-29) combined to secure maximum points for their side.
