WINNINGTON Park's emerging talent have proved the club's future is in safe hands after they celebrated success in knockout finals.

Three age-group teams contested a showpiece game to win a piece of silverware while a fourth made their mark at an inaugural RFU Kids First Rugby Festival by prevailing in each of their three matches.

Here's how they did it:

Winnington Park u14 17-5 Macclesfield u14

WINNINGTON Park's under 14s played a hard-fought encounter with Macclesfield in the Cheshire RFU Junior Shield final before running out 17-5 victors.

They had to resist near-relentless pressure for the opening quarter of an hour before asserting their dominance up front to create an opening for Rhys Dixon to drive over their first try.

Toby Creed added the extras.

Park were on the front foot in the second-half, resulting in further tries for Dixon and Ryley Kiernan before Macc responded with one of their own.

Winnington's defence remained resolute from then, and they held their nerve to claim the silverware.

THE under 15s boys demonstrated remarkable resilience to recover from a 19-6 interval deficit to beat their Wirral counterparts in the Cheshire RFU Junior Bowl.

They used every member of a 22-man squad to turn around a contest that appeared to be going against them, recording a third consecutive victory at a county showpiece after bringing the Cheshire Plate back to Burrows Hill in each of the previous two years.

Tries from Dan Marquand, Will Glendinning and Jack England, who also added a conversion, plus a brace of penalties from Charlie Hyde secured for the Northwich side a 23-19 win.

"The boys played with great heart and determination," reflected head coach Charlie De Keyzer afterwards.

Winnington Park's under 16s could not make it a clean sweep of knockout wins after they lost to Lymm in the Cheshire RFU Junior Plate.

There was a reward though for Park's under 13s, who have improved steadily over the course of the campaign, when they registered wins in all of their matches at the inaugural RFU Kids First Rugby Festival at Bowdon.

They played with consistency throughout, and recorded three wins, much to the delight of coaches Paul Escott, Phil Baynes and John Daley.
