THERE was no respite for Northwich from a disappointing start to the season when they crashed out of the Cheshire Shield against Kingsley on Sunday.

Glinoj Cherian (23) was the home team’s leading-scorer, while the visitors to Moss Farm conceded 41 runs in extras, as they were dismissed for 84 after losing the toss.

Toby Mullins (5-14) and captain Ben Stoddart (2-4), who bowled Cherian, did most of the damage after Craig Lynch (1-27) and Harry Waring (1-17) had broken through initially.

Stoddart (47 off 22 balls) then scored six fours and three maximums during a first-wicket partnership worth 57 with fellow opener Charlie Loy (22no) as the Crofters raced to victory inside eight overs after the changeover.

Glinoj (2-18) took both wickets to fall.
