A DERBY between Davenham and Oulton Park is among the highlights when the Cheshire County League’s T20 starts on Thursday.
They meet in a group-stage fixture at Butcher’s Stile, from 6.15pm.
Ben Gough’s side, who play one level below their Premier Division guests, start the contest buoyed by beating Bowdon on home turf last weekend.
The Little Budworth outfit have had a mixed start, losing twice in the league either side of a comfortable eight-wicket win at Romiley in the Cheshire Cup – a competition they triumphed in last term.
Matthew Worsdale, a bowler that transferred from Davenham to Oulton Park over the winter, could line up against his old club.
Northwich start their campaign in the same section by hosting holders, and top seeds, Nantwich at Moss Farm.
The teams have recent history in the tournament, Niall O’Brien (117no) racing to an unbeaten century for the Dabbers who racked up 212-5 in a play-off to reach the knockout stage two years ago.
They restricted a side led then by Mark Walker to 94-9 in reply.
The group winners will progress to the last eight.
