DAVENHAM’S bowlers delivered a first victory for new captain Ben Gough when they bowled out Bowdon to prevail in a low-scoring encounter at Butcher’s Stile.

And the skipper had made initial inroads, taking 2-19, before Adam Garrod (4-40) and Ryan Blackie (3-26) joined forces to knock over the men that followed.

The visitors closed on 112, 27 runs short of the home team’s total.

Overseas signing Matthew Nicholls (37) and Sam Hunt (43) put on 74 for the third wicket after Davenham’s innings started slowly earlier in the afternoon.

They struggled after Nick Greenwood (4-27) bowled both, adding only 50 to finish 139 all out.

Oulton Park’s attack gave Cheadle an almighty scare before the visitors to Little Budworth stumbled to a one-wicket win.

Dan Brown (5-23) ripped through the top of the home team’s order and they never recovered, collapsing to 67 all out after being put in.

But Martyn East’s men rallied brilliantly, led by Andy Hards (3-15) and Andrew Dufty (3-11), to leave Cheadle in trouble at 38-5.

James Plant (2-11) weighed in too before the away side edged to 69-9.

Northwich were served another reminder as to the size of their task in Division Two following a heavy 151-run reverse at Warrington.

Jono Fletcher (155no off 103 balls) set a record for his club, posting the highest individual score for a first-team batsman, did the damage and the hosts declared on 285-5 at Walton Lea.

Schoolboy Rohan Luthra (54), aged 14, shared in a partnership for the fourth wicket worth 136 runs.

Northwich succumbed for 134 in reply the highlight a sixth-wicket stand of 42 between James Gittings (53no) - who had earlier taken two wickets – and Matthew George (20).
