HOLLY Smith will test herself against some of the best young runners from across the continent after selectors invited her to represent England this week.
The Vale Royal Athletics Club star travels to Italy for the Trofeo Opitergium on Wednesday when she contests a 5km race for under 20s women in Orderzo, a town to the north east of Venice.
Smith, a student at Sir John Deane’s College in Northwich, has a personal best of 17:02 for the distance set during the Mid Cheshire 5K at Kingsley two years ago.
England’s women’s team is completed by Becky Briggs (City of Hull), Jessica Mitchell (Havering) and Birmingham University student Lucy Elms.
