Winnington Park Ladies 13-12 Workington Ladies
WINNINGTON Park’s determination earned a reward on Sunday when they beat promotion-hopefuls Workington on the final afternoon of the campaign.
They dominated possession and territory for most of a close encounter at Burrows Hill but were thwarted repeatedly by a robust Cumbrian defence.
The Northwich outfit did at least reach the interval 8-7 in front thanks to a successful penalty-kick from scrum-half Gemma Jackson and a brilliantly-worked try out wide by Hanna Lydiate.

Neither side gave an inch in the second-half either, trading tries without being able to add a conversion.
Laura Underdown touched down for the hosts, taking the wind from Workington’s sails for a spell, before their fly-half broke through Winnington’s line and carried the ball 75 yards for a stunning solo score.
It set up a thrilling finale during which Park held firm, securing fourth position in the final RFU Women’s National Challenge North Two West table.
