NORTHWICH Rowing Club crews celebrated a win in two categories during the North of England Head at Chester last weekend.
An under 18s girls’ quad with Ellie Heathcock, Lydia Heath, Charlotte Almond and Rachel Cooney on board shared first prize with rivals from York City after they completed a 5,000m course on the River Dee in an identical time – 17:17.2.
There was no doubt about the quickest under 17s girls’ quad after Kiera Burke, Francesca Campbell, Amber Sperring-Toy and Zara Gautier-Price stopped the clock in 17:43.0
Meanwhile a second boat from Northwich, stroked by Molly Garlick, finished as runners-up in the same boat-class in 18:14.2.
Two more crews in green and gold classified second.
Some fantastic racing today on the Dee. Don’t forget the final @NorthWestRowing head of the season is our Spring Head. A great opportunity to race a shorter head course and transition to regatta racing!!

An under 16s girls’ quad stroked by Maisy Jardine trailed Queen’s Park High School in their boat-class while Aaron Bennion steered an under 16s boys’ quad to second behind Shrewsbury School.
Two masters crews – a men’s D eight and a mixed E eight – completed a Northwich contingent at last Saturday’s event.
Ellie Cushen was in Nottingham at the weekend taking part in the latest assessment of promising youngsters by selectors for the British team.
A four-day trial at the National Water Sports Centre concluded on Tuesday.
The teenager, a student at Sir John Deane’s College and a member of Northwich’s junior girls’ squad, represented Great Britain at the 2018 Coupe de la Jeunesse in Ireland.
Members at Northwich turn their attention next to their Spring Head on Sunday, April 7, when crews across three divisions will race against the clock along a 2,350m course on the River Weaver.
Admission is free for spectators.
