Why should I watch..?

To see which of two improving teams can continue a promising sequence of results.

1874 Northwich have won four of their past five matches in all competitions, scoring 15 goals, but frustratingly for them they continue to occupy a position outside of the North West Counties League Premier Division’s top 10.

Their aim on Saturday is to complete a double over opponents they thrashed in a first meeting in October.

However Silsden have prevailed on the past two occasions the sides have met in West Yorkshire.

The Cobbydalers collected maximum points from three of their past four games, including a 4-1 hammering of high-flying Congleton Town in their most recent outing.

That brought to an end a sequence of five successive defeats on home turf.

What they’ve said

"Our home form has been a bit disappointing this season.

“We've not given our fans much to cheer about and hopefully that’s something we can change [against Northwich] on Saturday.”

Craig Bentham, Silsden player assistant manager

"The intensity we saw during training this week has been encouraging and that’s because we’ve got competition for places across the pitch and some important matches just around the corner.”

Wayne Goodison, 1874 Northwich co-manager

Numbers game

Silsden haven’t played for 28 days, a sequence that started following a 4-1 win against Congleton Town on February 23

1874 team news

Sam Hare is unavailable, but captain Matthew Woolley is back after missing the 4-2 win against Burscough last time out.

Management duo Paul Bowyer and Wayne Goodison otherwise have everybody else to pick from, including left-back Lee Jackson who hasn’t featured since a 3-2 win against Barnoldswick in the Macron Cup on February 15.

Jack Tinning (knee) joins a list of injury absentees that also includes Sam Freakes, Ryan Jackson and Joe Woolley (all knee).
