Winnington Park 3-0 Oxton 2nd

WINNINGTON Park collected the points they needed to secure their place in the North West League’s top-flight for another season.

They survived an early scare last weekend when goalkeeper Sam Robbins produced his best to keep out the visitors but the Northwich side dominated for the most part.

Ed Shand’s neat finish put them in front before the break and Paul Stackhouse’s powerful drag-flick doubled their lead.

George Hudson skilfully deflected the ball into the corner to complete the scoring.

A RALLY after the interval, which they reached 4-2 adrift, saw Winnington Park recover to take maximum points.

Mark Leigh’s drag-flick had put them in front and Matty Howard tapped in after the home team levelled before Deeside added three goals to their total before the break.

Howard pulled one back before Matty Entwistle diverted Chris Moss’ shot into the net to make it 4-4.

Leigh then grabbed the winner from a short-corner following a fine run by Josh Williams.

RYAN Crouchley’s opening goal inside 90 seconds set Winnington’s thirds on a course to a thumping victory.

They added to their tally when Ben Rigby found the net before goalkeeper Tim Wyllie used his leg to thwart the visitors at the other end with a brilliant deflection.

Deeside halved their arrears after the interval but Park responded with goals in quick succession for John Crouchley and Rigby, again, at the end of moves started by tackles inside their own D.

Rigby completed then his hat-trick when he converted a penalty flick with time running out.

A YOUNG visiting team battled hard on their visit to Deeside but could not convert any of the chances they created.

Deeside did find the net either side of the interval to take maximum points while Dec Lamb was chosen as man of the match for Park in recognition of his industrious display in midfield.
