Liverpool Collegiate Ladies 10-58 Winnington Park Ladies
WINNINGTON Park put into practice what they had worked on in training to complete a double over Liverpool on their return to action.
They began purposefully, scoring three unanswered tries inside the first 20 minutes.
However their hosts, reinforced since a heavy defeat at Burrows Hill in the return, crossed the line twice in quick succession to close to within seven points on the scoreboard.
Jolted by a pep talk from captain Thea Breau, Park reasserted their authority before the break.
As the pitch deteriorated in the second-half, so too did the home team’s resistance and Winnington ran in five more tries to run out comfortable victors.
Breau, Nessa Hadley and Danni Lydiate claimed a brace each while Gemma Jackson, who also kicked four conversions, Cerys Lancaster and Jenny Guest touched down too.
A trip to Ormskirk awaits on Sunday.
