THREE teams from Winnington Park kept alive their hopes of winning a trophy this season after prevailing in knockout semi-finals.

The under 14s ran in 11 tries during an emphatic victory against their Anselmians counterparts in the Cheshire RFU Junior Shield.

Frank Gibbons, Charlie Houghton, Rhys Dixon and Trystan Vickery scored two apiece while Dominic Verma, Ryley Kiernan and Andre Ogbonnaya accounted for the others.

Toby Creed was successful with eight of his conversion attempts.

Macclesfield await in the final.

Park’s under 15s proved too strong for Dukinfield in the Cheshire RFU Junior Bowl, recording a 47-0 victory.

Charlie Hyde, Dan Marquand and Matthew James dotted down in the first-half before James went on to complete a hat-trick of tries in the second.

Hyde crossed the whitewash again, while Dan Hogarth and Liam Geary added their names to a list of scorers.

They will meet Wirral in May to decide who takes home the silverware.

Winnington’s under 16s could not be separated from Ellesmere Port during a 17-17 draw.

Both teams scored the same number of tries and conversions, leaving the Northwich team to claim a Cheshire RFU Junior Vase final place because they were the away side.

“Despite being at a considerable weight disadvantage we played the better rugby and deserved to go through,” said head coach Ben Richardson.
