AFTER a fall, Witton are back on their feet again.

They left it late, but two goals during the closing stages of a second-half they had dominated made the difference.

Carl Macauley’s men have momentum, and only leaders Warrington Town have collected more points than they have over the past seven Northern Premier League matches.

Trailing to James Walshaw’s opener for Boro, they restored parity with eight minutes left when James Foley converted from the penalty spot after he was felled by a recovering Josh Lacey.

And they didn’t have to wait long before Danny McKenna slammed a loose ball into the net after the visitors had failed to clear.

Witton went close to landing a blow early in the first-half when captain Rob Hopley’s header, from Anthony Gardner’s long-throw, struck an upright.

Foley followed up, but his shot was blocked.

Josh Wardle then directed a header too close to Seadogs goalkeeper Thomas Taylor before the visitors broke the deadlock with their first coherent attack of the game.

Michael Coulson’s approach play on the left paid dividend when Walshaw dispatched an emphatic finish past custodian Greg Hall from close-range.

The front man almost netted but his dinked finish lacked power and Wardle was alert enough to avert the danger and clear.

Albion ought to have levelled in the seconds before the break when a cross from the left reached Gardner but the full-back hooked wide from inside the six-yard box.

With the wind behind them, the home team put Boro under pressure from the start of the second-half.

Foley’s effort was narrowly off-target, while at the other end Hall had to produce his best to tip over Jamie Forrester’s free-kick from outside the area.

McKenna’s shot flashed wide and an effort from Foley was diverted by a defender before referee Paul Roots awarded a spot-kick for Lacey’s foul on Foley.

It was a catalyst for Albion to record a fifth win in their past seven Premier Division matches and a third in four attempts in front of their own supporters.
