Winnington Park Ladies 2-2 Northop Hall Ladies

WINNINGTON Park were defiant and recovered in the second-half last weekend to rescue a draw.

Ellie Capstick's strike, after the ball had been worked to her from a short-corner, completed a comeback for the Northwich side in the closing stages.

They had trailed at the interval after Northop punished them for errors in defence, establishing a two-goal lead, while at the the end the visitors' goalkeeper produced a pair of remarkable saves to keep out her opponents.

Park regained momentum when Jaz Barlow's smart finish reduced the deficit before Capstick stayed calm to make it 2-2.

Winnington slip to fourth in the Cheshire Women's League's top-flight, and remain in a promotion position, but fifth-placed Deeside are only three points adrift.

Timperley Ladies 4th 1-1 Winnington Park Ladies 2nd

KATIE Beasley returned from university, and was collected from the train station by teammates en route to Timperley, to help Winnington Park's seconds cover absences.

They were without half-a-dozen regulars who were unavailable due to school holidays and called too on Julie Rafferty who made her first appearance in a year following surgery on a knee injury.

She formed part of a strong defensive line-up with Emma Turley and Coral Taylor that kept the home team at arm's length while goalkeeper Sofi Waterer kept out any shots that got through.

The visitors edged in front with five minutes left when Chris Davies converted a pass from Beasley only for Timperley to find a deserved equaliser.
