THE best sides in the Northwich and District League served up another treat last week.
And this time Gladstone C had reason to celebrate after Darryl Fallows prevailed in a decider against Fred Backhouse to secure a victory for his side against Castle D in the Team Knockout semi-finals.
Jason Chester had restored parity at 3-3 for Castle after Matty Hubert and Nick Hubert took key frames for the holders.
They remain on course to win a league and cup double for a third time and will face Castle C in next month’s final.
The Division One side were made to sweat by underdogs Iron Bridge H, recovering from 2-1 down to lead after Ste Roberts and Steve Whitlow chalked up wins.
However Dana McCormack then forced a seventh frame that was won by Steve Smith to settle the outcome.
Witton Chimes A recovered from losing the first two frames of a Supplementary Shield semi-finals encounter with Rudheath in thrilling fashion.
Stuart Porter’s maximum break was the catalyst for their comeback before Wayne Porter made it 2-2.
Andy Johnson edged last year’s Team Knockout runners-up in front before Darren Porter took the sixth frame to clinch a final date with Greenbank C.
They were too good for Iron Bridge A in the other last-four tie.
Paul Fletcher’s 8-ball break was a highlight for Owley Wood B when they squeezed past Castle B in a rearranged Division One encounter on Wednesday.
The Weaverham outfit boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation as reward for a 4-3 win.
Green Dragon A took another step towards claiming the Division Three title, but only after surviving a scare against Winnington Rec.
The visitors roared back from 3-0 down to level before Paul Dodsworth nicked a final frame for the table-toppers.
Green Dragon B beat hosts Wheatsheaf by the same score.
