JACOB Brown narrowly missed out on a medal during the British Universities and Colleges Sport Cross Country Championships last weekend.
The Vale Royal Athletics Club member, representing Loughborough University, crossed the line in 25th position at the end of the men’s race at Bicton College in Exeter.
That made him fourth counter for a team that finished eight points adrift of bronze-medallists Oxford.
Chloe Dooley, competing in Cardiff’s colours, was the highest-placed Vale Royal runner in the women’s race after finishing 124th in a field of more than 600 entries.
