LEON Wright marked his debut for Barnton with a goal as the Villagers completed a productive Christmas with a victory.
He fired past Cheadle goalkeeper Aaron Tyrer after Jamie Weeder had sent him clear with two minutes left, securing maximum points for James McShane’s men.
Another new recruit, former Winsford United defender Danny Jarrett, had preserved the home team’s interval advantage when he timed perfectly a tackle to prevent Ashley Harrison from shooting at goal.
Barnton had taken the lead midway through the first-half when Luke Wilson-Jones’ pass freed Weeder to deliver a cross that Joel Hare turned into his own net.
Cheadle, making their debut in the North West Counties League’s First Division South this season, responded and goalkeeper Arran Lyons had to produce a stunning save to keep out Richard Tindall’s superb strike.
Barnton, who had shared six goals with Sandbach United on Boxing Day, kept their guests at arm’s length to record a sixth win of the campaign at Townfield.
Stockport Town are their guests on Saturday.
