STEVE Warburton scored a stoppage-time goal on his debut to help Winnington Avenue 1994 complete an impressive comeback last weekend.
They trailed 3-0 by the break at Moss Farm in a Cheshire League Two meeting with St Helens Town reserves.
However a second-half fight-back started when Sam Didsbury found the net before Tom Chubb further reduced the hosts’ arrears.
Warburton popped up with a leveller as the clock ticked down.
“I don’t think having a week off did us any good!” said manager Lewis Wood.
“We took too long to switch on again but showed our class to get something from the game.”
Winnington, newcomers to the competition this season, have lost only one of their past five league games.
Cuddington went down 4-1 away to Holmes Chapel in the same section and have been beaten in successive matches for the first time this season.
Nathan Harwood’s free-kick hauled them level after they had fallen behind before their hosts scored three times in the second-half.
“We had plenty of the game,” said manager Gareth Harwood.
“But with our regular front men missing we lacked firepower.”
In-form Lostock Gralam were prevented by the weather from extending a 13-match unbeaten run in League One when their scheduled encounter with Styal was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
Referee Kevin Kelly called off Barnton Wanderers’ head-to-head with Sandbach Town in the Crewe and District League’s top-flight during the interval after heavy rainfall made the pitch unplayable.
The visitors led 3-1 at the time.
Mark Eyes was on target for Winnington Avenue when they lost 2-1 at home to Tarporley Victoria, while Kieran Brown’s hat-trick for leaders Madeley White Star condemned Northwich side Clock Tower.
Over 3 Grange bowed out of the Crewe and District FA Cup following a heavy 5-0 reverse at Alsager’s reserves while Winsford Saxons will try again to play their tie against MMU Cheshire after a first attempt was postponed.
