NORTHWICH Victoria’s reward for reaching the last 32 of the FA Vase is to meet opponents from the Northern League.
Steve Wilkes’ side, comfortable victors against Silsden on Saturday, will travel to Newcastle Benfield at the start of next month.
They will be greeted by hosts that have already eliminated two teams from the North West Counties League – 1874 Northwich and Runcorn Town – to reach this stage.
Their attack is led by Paul Brayson, who established himself as a favourite among Vics supporters when he helped them to promotion after winning the National League North title in 2006.
The striker is remembered fondly too for his part in a run to the FA Cup third round which included a stunning hat-trick in a 3-1 win at Morecambe.
Vics are due in the north east on Saturday, January 5, kick-off 3pm.
