Winnington Park Ladies 61-5 Liverpool Collegiate Ladies
WINNINGTON Park were made to work harder for a victory against Liverpool Collegiate on Sunday than they did during the teams’ previous meeting last month.
The visitors to Burrows Hill fielded a stronger side than they had for an RFU Women’s Junior Cup clash and matched their hosts’ intensity in the tackle during the opening exchanges.
Park had to be patient but as they started to score more regularly their opponents’ resistance faded.
It was 22-5 by the break, and Winnington asserted their authority afterwards to register a fourth league win of the campaign.
Thea Breau led the way with a hat-trick of tries, while Dawn Akrigg and Cerys Lancaster touched down twice.
Mel McPhillips, Laura Underdown, Megan Rooney and Nessa Hadley added their names to a list of scorers, the latter converting on three occasions.
The Northwich side sit third in the North Two West table, and return to action on Sunday week, December 9, when they visit Burnley.
