TWO runners from Vale Royal Athletics Club played a part when England dominated the team events during the British and Irish Masters Cross Country International.
Liz Renondeau and Sarah Murphy were both counters in their respective age-group categories following races over a gruelling course at Swansea’s Singleton Park on Saturday.
The latter was ninth overall in the women’s race, and four of the over 40s in the field, to help England pip Ireland for first place.
Meanwhile Renondeau crossed the line in 15th position, eighth in the over 35s class, to claim her gold medal.
England triumphed in every team event with the exception of the men's over 75s race, which was won by Wales, and collected 16 golds overall.
