Winnington Park Ladies 4-5 Bowdon Ladies 3rd
WINNINGTON Park were denied a draw a battling display deserved when their opponents scored a decisive goal with seconds remaining.
It was a cruel on the Northwich side after they had rallied to restore parity on three occasions in a thrilling Cheshire Women’s League encounter at Grange School in Hartford.
They trailed 2-0 before Jaz Barlow halved their arrears from a reverse-stick shot that squeezed between the goalkeeper’s legs.
Rhona Logie scored an equaliser before Bowdon edged in front again only for Vicky Curran to make it 3-3.
Ellie Capstick, with a straight strike from a short corner, was the next Park player to level after they fell behind again.
There was more drama to follow when goalkeeper Helen Hogben produced a brilliant save to keep out a penalty flick before persistent Bowdon pinched maximum points with that last-gasp goal.
