Winnington Park 1-2 City of Manchester

WINNINGTON Park were left to feel rueful after failing to convert one of the chances they created before falling behind.

Instead the visitors to Northwich broke the deadlock following a spell of pressure in the second-half although they were pegged back by a well-worked equaliser.

A late strike from City of Manchester proved decisive though, and Park slip to ninth in the North West Men’s League’s top-flight as a result.

Oxton 3rd 0-5 Winnington Park 2nd

A GOAL inside 30 seconds set Winnington Park’s seconds on a course for victory when they went to Oxton thirds.

Harry Garner claimed it, and John Stackhouse doubled the visitors’ lead from a short-corner routine.

Matt Howard then took centre stage, finishing a flowing move at the back-post before the break.

He added two more afterwards to complete a hat-trick.

Winnington Park 3rd 4-0 Deeside Ramblers 7th

WINNINGTON Park’s thirds cruised to a comfortable victory against struggling opponents and did not look back following Liam McKee’s opening goal.

Debutant Alex Hickson’s superb strike added to their tally.

Tom Ravenscroft’s charge from the middle of the pitch was rewarded with a third goal before Ben Rigby added gloss.

Deeside Ramblers 6th 0-1 Winnington Park 4th

LOUIS Greenwood’s goal ended a wait for Winnington Park’s fourths to celebrate a first victory of the campaign at the sixth attempt.

He remained composed to slot the ball home after substitute Freddie Long and Owen Mapleson – who delivered a man-of-the-match display in defence – had combined effectively in the build-up.

The visitors couldn’t conjure a second goal, but saw off any threat from Deeside to hold on to maximum points.
