Match of the Day

Winsford United v Charnock Richard (ko 3pm)

Blues feel they ought to have a higher points tally in the North West Counties League this season - a statistic they're keen to change on Saturday.

They start a meeting with Charnock Richard occupying a position above the Premier Division's relegation zone after registering a single win - and two draws - from 10 matches to date.

Lee Duckworth's side gave leaders City of Liverpool a scare last weekend before going down 5-2, and ran Silsden close at Barton Stadium before the visitors scored two late goals to snatch maximum points.

Winsford did though beat Northwich Victoria in between.

It's an important afternoon for...

Lostock Gralam (v Broadheath Central, ko 2pm)

The Grey Lambs are in fine form, and they start a head-to-head with Cheshire League One leaders Broadheath Central buoyed by beating Ford Motors in the JA Walton Challenge Cup last weekend.

They are unbeaten now in nine matches in all competitions, a run that has progress in two knockout competitions as well as rise to fourth in the table.

Visitors Broadheath travel to Northwich with confidence similarly high after prevailing in nine of their 10 league games to date.

And what about...

Winsford Saxons (v Madeley White Star, ko 2pm)

Both teams have started a new season in the Crewe and District League's Premier Division with three successive wins, and so something has to give.

Saxons have home advantage at Knights Grange, where they recorded a 3-1 victory against Sandbach Town on the campaign's opening day.

A side managed jointly by Chris Thomas and Pete Hughes are seeking to recapture a title their team won in back-to-back seasons in 2016 and again the following year.
