A WASHOUT of every match in the Cheshire League’s Division One last weekend benefitted Barnton, who cannot now be relegated.

Simon Hancock’s side had been due at Disley, but heavy rainfall prompted the fixture to be cancelled without a ball being bowled.

That leaves the men from Broomsedge 35 points clear of second-bottom Bredbury St Mark’s with one game left.

They conclude the campaign at home to Haslington on Saturday.

Meanwhile Kingsley will finish fifth if they beat hosts Cheadle Hulme in their final fixture.

Middlewich remain in danger of being relegated for a fourth successive season after a head-to-head with Wilmslow, a direct rival to beat the drop from Division Two, was called off.

Phil Parry’s men remain in the relegation zone as a result and start their last match, away to neighbours Winnington Park, a point adrift of a position of safety.

Wilmslow host Stretton at the same time.

Oakmere are already guaranteed to be promoted as champions.

Winsford, without a single victory in the second-half of the season, conclude a disappointing term in Division Four at home to title-hopefuls Audlem.

The men from Knights Grange could still finish bottom, although they begin Saturday’s encounter with a 14-point advantage over Bowdon Vale.

Wistaston Village host to the back-markers.

Weaverham and Middlewich seconds are already guaranteed to occupy the bottom two places in Division A.

However Oakmere seconds, the T20 Cup winners, could pinch fourth place from Haslington if results go in their favour.

Barnton seconds’ spot in Division B West is secure, while Kingsley’s seconds are guaranteed to occupy top spot in Division C North following last weekend’s wipeout.

Hartford will send Winsford’s seconds to the foot of Division C South if they record a victory at Malpas.
