Why should I watch..?
To see what impact the departure of manager Tommy Lawson has on Marine for their visit to Wincham Park.
Ian Johnson, who had been number two to the former Skelmersdale boss, will pick the side.
Witton Albion’s primary focus will be on putting behind them a 2-0 defeat at Bamber Bridge on Saturday, a reverse that saw them slip into the table’s bottom-half.
Carl Macauley has called for his side to be harder to beat on home turf this season, and they followed a 1-1 draw against Hyde with a victory against Nantwich last week.
What they’ve said
“Anybody that gets clean-sheets against us, with Rob Hopley and Will Jones on the field, have had a good day at the office.
“We can be better than we showed [at Bamber Bridge]
“We kept going, and always tried to do the right things to get back into the game, but it wasn’t to be.”
Carl Macauley, Witton Albion manager
Numbers game
Witton could name up to five former Marine players – Matty Devine, James Foley, Tom Owens, Billy Smart and Will Jones – in their starting line-up
Witton team news
Billy Smart is available again after serving a three-match suspension.
Carl Macauley will check on Tom Owens after he battled the effects of a virus to play in Saturday’s defeat at Bamber Bridge.
He is counting too on the Welsh FA approving a transfer of versatile attacker Will Booth from Colwyn Bay.
Cameron Terry’s registration has been completed though and the teenager could be included as back-up to Greg Hall.
Man to keep an eye on
Billy Smart
The midfielder lines up against a side whose supporters chose him as Marine’s outstanding performer in the Northern Premier League last season.
While he has nothing to prove to them, his dismissal late on during Witton’s opening-day defeat away to South Shields means followers of his new club are yet to see him in competitive action at Wincham Park.
He’ll want to make an impression.
