EMILY Martin has continued a rich vein of form with two more impressive performances over the past week.

The Weaver Valley Cycling Club rider recorded a personal best during the Realteam.co.uk 25 at Rhigos on Sunday, stopping the clock in 59:28 to classify seventh in the women’s standings.

It is the first time she has completed the distance in less than an hour.

Laura Bartlett (a3crg) was the fastest female, posting a time of 55:37 to win by almost two minutes from Vicky Jowett (Plymouth Corinthian CC) in testing conditions.

Martin had been in action in midweek too, claiming a victory in the women’s race at the Tameside Cycling Development Group (TCDG) Race League meet.

She broke away from the bunch with two laps of a closed circuit left, holding off the challenge of Ruth Taylor (Element CT) to take maximum points.

Fellow Weaver Valley member Laura Gray was fourth.

Meanwhile Weaver Valley organised the TLI Cycling National Road Race Championships, held on a course at Siddington, which attracted entries from across the country.

Matt Buckley represented the host club in the under 50s race, finishing safely in the bunch.
