SUBSTITUTE Matthew Beadle‘s goal in the fourth minute of added time earned for 1874 Northwich a deserved point at Whitchurch Alport on Monday night.

He steered in Kazim Waite-Jackson’s cross from close-range after the visitors had applied sustained pressure in the second-half.

And they almost snatched a victory when Taylor Kennerley’s low drive struck an upright before the final whistle.

Whitchurch had taken the lead midway through the opening period when Arron Johns slide in to convert Simon Everall’s centre.

Waite-Jackson went close to an equaliser on two occasions before the break, first when an attempt flashed narrowly wide and second when goalkeeper David Parton saved with his fingertips.

Callum Gardner’s volley was too close to Alport’s number one shortly after the interval, while at the other end Matthew Green diverted Joe Howell’s shot to safety.

Parton produced another brilliant save to deny Kennerley after Beadle, on as a replacement for Gardner, flicked a pass into the winger’s path.

However the striker was in the right place to convert with the clock running down, securing for his side a fourth successive draw in all competitions.
