Why should I watch..?
To see how Witton respond to the blow of conceding a late goal at South Shields on Saturday that denied them a share of the spoils from a hard-fought encounter.
Albion set out to frustrate their hosts, and succeeded until Carl Finnigan’s header made it 2-1 with time running out.
They will hope to be more attacking when they return to Wincham Park, where another promoted club are their guests.
Hyde claimed a notable scalp on their return to the Premier Division when they saw off Basford United thanks to Chib Chilaka’s goal in their opening game.
Darren Kelly’s side had the best defensive record in the First Division North last season, and have a clean-sheet to their tally already.
What they’ve said
“I felt we looked strong, and solid, for the most part at South Shields.
“We were well-organised, something we’ll need to be time and again.
“Overall it was a good performance even though we didn’t get the result we wanted.”
Carl Macauley, Witton Albion manager
Numbers game
Carl Macauley will take charge of a Witton Albion first-team game for the 150th time since his appointment
Witton team news
The home team should have everybody available to pick from except for Nick Ryan who is a long-term injury absentee.
Billy Smart’s suspension, following his dismissal late on during Saturday’s defeat at South Shields, does not start until next weekend.
Man to keep an eye on
Rob Hopley
He wore number nine at the weekend but played in the middle of a back three flanked by River Humphreys and Josh Wardle.
A more than capable defender, it will be interesting to observe if Carl Macauley switches him to a more familiar attacking role.
