HAYDEN Lanza was a match-winner for Kingsley on Saturday when his unbeaten century helped them extend a run of victories.

The Australian reached the landmark in style, a 14th boundary taking him past 100 as well as easing the Crofters to their target at 208-5.

He faced only 79 balls to get there.

A highlight was a partnership of 125 runs for the fourth wicket with chairman Kieron Ollier (42).

Hosts Bredbury St Mark’s had put 206-7 on the board after a huge stand of their own, a timely one worth 135 after they had slipped initially to 18-3.

Ben Stoddart, with 5-66, was the pick of Kingsley’s bowling attack.

Barnton fell agonisingly short in a run-chase at Lymm, an eighth defeat of the campaign that leaves them hovering above the Division One drop zone.

Their spinners, captain Simon Hancock (5-14) and James Hodgkinson (2-38), restricted Lymm to 137 all out after Neil Langham (1-43) and Matty Appleton (1-38) had bowled diligently without much reward.

However the pace of Syed Khan (6-57) quickly reduced the visitors to 35-4 before Brijesh Batra (22) and Peter Cook (19) steadied the ship.

A drinks break appeared to interrupt the duo’s concentration, although Langham (31no) almost took the visitors to their target before Graham Coull was last man out with the score on 129.

Oakmere suffered a first defeat of the season in Division Two when they went down by one wicket at Stretton.

The table-toppers, victors in 12 of their previous 13 matches, posted 214-9 after winning the toss.

Opener Alex Hodges (66) and teenager Ciaran McDonnell (48) were the pick of their batsmen – the latter adding 59 runs for the fifth wicket with James Norton (23).

Stretton replied with 215-9, guided to their target by tail-ender Ali Sher (28no) after captain Craig Phelan (4-43) and Matt Norton (2-40) had kept the visitors on a course for victory.

Winnington Park’s hopes of challenging for promotion took another hit when they went down by 76 runs away to Maritime.

They bowled out the home team for 187 with overseas signing Tyron Young (3-17) – who trapped star turn Azam Hussain (94) before he could score a century – and Sam Barnes (3-30) the most effective bowlers.

However the Northwich outfit failed again at the crease when they succumbed for 111 with captain Alec Butcher (52) resisting for more than 100 balls before becoming the fifth victim of star turn Farroukh (5-40).

Middlewich were no match for Chelford, losing by 81 runs, and sit just a single point above the relegation zone.

Kieran Boyle (5-48) led the way as the men from Haddon Field restricted their opponents to 145 all out, supported by Stephen Parry (2-18).

However the visitors could not threaten that score, folding for 64 in reply – their lowest total of the campaign – after only three batsmen reached a double-digit score.

Matthew Doggart took 5-34.

Winsford lost a fractious Division Four encounter with Frodsham by 66 runs the same day.

Their hosts put 145 on the board, bowled out thanks to a combined effort from Paul Atherton (2-48), Mark Sergeant (2-18), Dave Etchells (2-47) and captain Mike Dean (2-27).

Winsford reached 62-3 in reply before collapsing to 79 all out thanks to a fine solo display by Richard Warburton (7-28).
