SOME of the leading performances during Week 13 of the campaign went without the reward of a victory.

Danny Leech’s magnificent ton for Oulton Park lost part of its sheen when Chester Boughton Hall successfully chased 329 to win a remarkable Premier Division encounter.

There was similar frustration for captain Danny Hancock at Davenham after he claimed a first five-fer of the campaign against Bowdon.

However it was an afternoon to remember for Ben Ainsworth after he scored a maiden century for Kingsley’s seconds in their demolition of Bowdon Vale.

Here’s a round-up of the best displays:

Danny Leech (Oulton Park) (scored 154 against Chester Boughton Hall in Cheshire County League Premier Division)

A stunning contribution from the Cheshire three-day captain set his side on a course to a huge total at Little Budworth.

He scored 22 fours and five maximums, from 146 balls, to help Oulton Park to 328-8 after they were put in by their guests.

However it was a tally that proved within the visitors’ reach as they celebrated a four-wicket win by reaching 329-6 with five balls to spare.

Danny Hancock (Davenham) (took 5-35 against Bowdon in Cheshire County League Division One)

The captain served a reminder of his value to Davenham’s attack when he claimed a first five-fer of the 2018 season to help humble Bowdon.

That included ending a third-wicket partnership between Hamish Dunlop (54) and James McDougall (30) that had passed 50.

Hancock now has 31 wickets to his name this season, making him by some distance his side’s most potent bowler to date.

Richard Smith (Oulton Park seconds) (took 5-47 against Chester Boughton Hall seconds in Cheshire County League Premier Division)

Smith enjoyed a stunning weekend, collecting nine wickets across two matches.

His side could be forgiven for fearing their total of 156 against Chester was below-par before he ripped through the home team’s batting order – supported by Andrew Hards (3-36) to help dismiss them for 95.

He followed that by taking 4-35 for the first team when they bowled out Upton to progress in the Cheshire Cup the following afternoon.

Craig Phelan (Oakmere) (took 7-18 against Middlewich in Cheshire League Division Two)

The skipper took a starring role for Oakmere last Saturday, returning career-best figures to help skittle Middlewich for just 90.

The men from Haddon Field had recovered from losing two early wickets when he dismissed Stephen Parry, caught by James Norton, with the score on 49.

The next seven wickets tumbled for 41 runs, with Phelan claiming six of them.

Oakmere then cruised to their target in just 15 overs.

Ben Ainsworth (Kingsley seconds) (scored 101 not out against Bowdon Vale seconds in Cheshire League Division C North)

A maiden century for Kingsley, reached off only 48 deliveries and after plundering 14 fours and three sixes, assisted the home team to put 285-4 on the board before declaring.

That included a partnership for the third wicket worth 60 runs with opener Richard Taylor (51) before putting on a further 115 together with Charlie Loye (57 off 35 balls).

Alex Wilson (Kingsley seconds) (took 5-31 against Bowdon Vale seconds in Cheshire League Division C North)

Kingsley’s captain followed the fine work of his batsmen to claim 5-31 as Bowdon Vale succumbed for 98 – sealing with it a huge 187-run defeat.

His haul included the scalp of leading-scorer Peter Williamson (29).
