OAKMERE, the defending champions, remain in contention to keep hold of their Cheshire Women’s League crown following a narrow win at Chester Boughton Hall last weekend.
The visitors put 156-4 on the board, led by Kerry Hartnett (83no), with contributions from Hailey Coutts (22) and Natalie Lyons (21).
Chester reached 148-6 in their reply after Ali Cutler (53) scored a half-century, while Rachel Tidd took 2-12.
The Northwich team sit second in the Division One table, two points adrift of Appleton.
Oakmere had lost by four runs on Friday in a T20 Western Division encounter with Wistaston Village.
Their opponents scored 105-3 and, while Shami Ahmed and Coutts both reached the retirement score of 25, they fell short with 101-3.
