HARTFORD A overcame another obstacle on a path they hope leads them to the South and Mid Cheshire League title when they prevailed on Tuesday.

Andrew Moores, James Barber, Jarrod Wood and James Barlow made up their quartet for a 6-2 victory at fourth-placed Nantwich Farmers in a Men’s Division One fixture.

It keeps them two points clear of Nantwich A, who whitewashed Hartford B to put behind them a surprise defeat seven days earlier.

Congleton A can take back second spot if they win at Hartford D tonight, Thursday.

Meanwhile Hartford C claimed a draw that could prove vital in the final reckoning when they shared eight sets with Congleton B at Chester Road.

Duncan Applebe, Ric Shelmerdine, Neil Cocker and Barry Patterson were on duty for the hosts.

Meanwhile Hartford A were too good for Alsager A when they met in a Ladies’ Division One fixture on Tuesday.

Katie Burrows, Virginia Vale, Jacqui Wood and Wenda Deadman recorded a 7-1 win – their sixth of the campaign – to leave their side fourth in the table.

Hartford B, currently second, attempt to become the first team to inflict a defeat on Nantwich A this season when the champions arrive in town tonight, Thursday.
