WRECKERS ended the fourth round of matches in a new Mid-Cheshire Super League season as leaders in the top-flight following a stylish victory over Raptors.
The league committee’s vice-chairman Russ Joynson, aged 72, played his part by prevailing in two singles rubbers.
Teammates Terry Turner and Charlie Ostapski both celebrated maximums, and joined forces to win the doubles too.
Simon Lafferty prevented a whitewash.
Tigers were too good for Manweb, while Victoria brushed aside Cobras.
Steve Stockton marked his return to action for Bears with a solid return of three singles wins, although Sticklebacks’ Phil Monton pushed him all the way in a five-set thriller.
Bears ran out 7-3 victors in a Division Two clash.
Winsford whitewashed Valiants, a victory that saw Lee Hamill mark his comeback with a hat-trick of singles wins following more than a year without playing.
In Division Three, substitute Norbert Collomb helped Wolves to record a 9-1 win at Wanderers.
Kieran Underwood, who took Mike McGee to a deciding set after recovering from 2-0 down, registered the hosts’ only victory.
