SPARKS are setting the pace in a race for the Mid Cheshire Super League title following a whitewash of Wreckers.

They are the only top-flight side to have won both matches in the campaign’s opening fortnight.

Victoria launched their bid to take the crown with an 8-2 triumph against Manweb, although an injury to Brian McGee – who lost earlier in straight sets to Dave Nelson – was a blow.

However Andy Town marked his return with a clean sweep of singles wins.

Raptors won at Cobras thanks to Chris Snape winning all three of his matches.

In Division Two, Lemmings whitewashed Hawks and Daresbury prevailed against visiting Sticklebacks.

Phil Monton starred for the away side on the night after winning twice in a deciding fifth set.

Winsford’s tussle with Bears was close, with wins for Mark Baker and Garry Owen – in games that went the distance against Paul Curley – settling the outcome in the former’s favour.

Wolves made it back-to-back wins in Division Three when they brushed aside Vikings, while Kinetics won 7-3 at home to Romans to put behind them a defeat on opening night.

Rangers and Wanderers shared the spoils after a draw.

Phil Monton enjoyed a successful night for the latter, winning all three of his singles encounters in straight sets.

The campaign is scheduled to start again on Monday, January 8.
